Insurance Surveys

For the vessel’s owner, an insurance survey differs from a Pre-purchase survey in that some vessels are inspected while on the hard in a shipyard, precluding a sea trial and engine operation. Other vessels may be inspected in the water only; the insurance company may or may not request that the boat be hauled for a hull inspection or taken on a seatrial. Insurance companies are interested mainly in the structural integrity and safety and fitness of the vessel for a specific intended use.

Insurance companies often require the boat be surveyed by an accredited marine surveyor, and Capt. Yates Adams AMS is an Accredited Marine Surveyor.
